August 3. A disastrous fire broke out at 4.30 this morning, which i completely destroyed the residence of Mr Peter Bull, the draper, on St. John's Hill. A portion of the furniture was saved, but the inmates excaped with much difficulty. The cause is unknown. The building was insured in the New Zealand office for £400, but the furniture was totally uninsured, and the estimated loss is £1000.

No clue has yet been discovered to the robbery from the Stormbird. Robberies of various kinds are greatly on the increase here.
