WANGANUI.
August 1. A box cotaining £400 in old called in silver has been stolen from the Stormbird. The box, which was consigned from the Bank of New Zealand here to tbe branch bank in Melbourne, via Wellington, was placed on board on Saturday afternoon, and taken charge of by the chief officer, who locked it in his cabin, and last evening found it missing. Captain Dawson was not aware the box was on board till informed of the robbery. The silver, though old, is current and passable. There is no clue at present as to the thief or the property.
