AUCKLAND.

July 30

The Union Sash and Door Company has declared a dividend of per cent, and ihe T'aupiri Coal Company a dividend of 10 per cent. A llokiuDga telegrara says that it is reported there that the natives are fighting over a piece of land half-way between Kaikohe and Tahcki, and shots have been exchanged, though it is not yet known with what result. Mr Yon Stunner, K.M., and Constable Coiigblan, have left for the scene of the quarrel. These natives are the same who took part in the fight at Akoto in October, 1879, when four lives were lost. They are the most lawless natives in the district, and they need a severe lesson, but of course the authorities here are powerless to act without a sufficient force. The row at present is confined to a few, aud these declare their intention of fighting to tbe bitter end.. Later. Mr Yon Stunner has returned from the scene of the row between the .native tribes near Hokianga. The dispute commenced over a cultivation. They erected pahs, and one man received a flesh wound in the thigh. The dispute is now settled, and the natives have returned to their homes, after agreeing to hand the laud over to Mr Yon Stunner and Hone Mohi Tawhai. These are a quarrelsome lot of natives, and a row will probably commence again in a few months. The wounded native intends to bring his case into Court.
