WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The Board met this morning at 11 o'clock. '-— w4 Present:—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), Messrs Lambert* Bnchanan, and Harding. COBHESPONDENCE. From the Under-Secretary, notifying a further reservation of land at Clyde for an hospital. From the Board of Trustees of Wairoa Cemetery, applying for the remaining portion of suburban section 54, class Z, Clyde, to be vested in the Board. The Board regretted that power is not vested in them to so strain the land regulations as to provide an endowment . for cemeteries. From Secretary Ormondville Small Farm Association, notifying that Mr George Grant, of Takapaa, had been elected secretary for the ensuing year. From the Secretary Bush Mills Small Farm Association, requesting for members leave of absence from their holdings from 16th August, 1881, to 16th April, 1882. Granted. From George Hutchins, further urging the request contained in bis letter of the 18th of April last. Steps to be taken to lease the land for fourteen years. From Mr McCarthy, requesting a redaction in price of land purchased by him at an auction on deferred payments. The Board has no power to reduce tbe price of land sold at auction. From Mr James Pine, requesting that section 12, Bush Mills Association, may be submitted to auction at next sale of Crown lands. Agreed to.

From Hon. S. M. Waterhouse, applying for a renewal of depasturing license which expires on the 31st instant. Decided that Mr Waterhouse, being entitled to a renewal under the Hawke's Bay Renewal of Licenses Act, 1870, the license No. 125 over 15,000 acres shall be renewed for a period of seven years from the 31st instant at a yearly rental of Id per acre, and payment of the usual fee of £5 for renewal of license.

The following applications to purchase land were approved :•—No. 2581, by D. Guy, for section 1, Block X., and section 6, Block VI., Takapau Survey District; No. 2582, by R. Holt, for section 5, Block VI., and section 2, Block X., Takapau district. Licenses under section 63 of The Land Act, 1877, were ordered to be issued in respect cf the following applications: — 50, by Ludvig Reiner for section 32, Block 111., Ugamoko block, Norsewood district; 51, Ole Peter Olsen for section 17, Block 111., same block in Norsewood district.

The Chairman reported a number of persons holding laDd on deferred payments to be in arrear with their instalments. It was decided that notices should be seDt requiring payments to be made within twenty-eight days from this date, or the land to be declared forfeited. The Board then adjourned.
