WELLINGTON.
July 29. A collision occurred at the heads last night between Captain Williams barque Australind and the brig Neptune, which were beating up the passage. The Australind was on the port tack, and the Neptune on the starboard, and on nearing one another the wind baffled. Both vessels went ia stays, but there was not
sufficient time to avoid a collision, and ♦v* -of the Neptune struck the bow 5 »i. V . i The latter had part of the Australmu. _ ried a^ of her bead gear and stern uc. -._ and the whole of the head gear, totu . five stanchions, and the bowsprit of the Neptune were carried away, no other damage was done. The captain of the Australind states that the collision was purely accidental, and would have been avoided had the wind not baffled.
