The Ulemas (the clergy and chief legal functionaries) having refused to confirm the sentence of death passed upon the murderers of tbe Sultan Abdul Aziz, and the Turkish Ministers having moreover urged the Sultan to commute the sentence, Midhat Pasha and the others found guilty of the crime have been deported to Arabia, where they will be detained in exile.
