OKAWA ROAD DISTRICT.
The adjourned annual meeting was held in tbe Puketapu schoolroom on Saturday, 23rd instant. Mr Beamish was called to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the chairman read the report of the wardens for the past year. The accounts, as audited, were passed, and the balancesheet showed that the funds of the board for the financial year ended 31st March, 1881, amounted to £1204 8s 9d; that
the expenditure on the several roads of tbe district for the same period was 19s sd, leaving a credit balance on April last of £425 9s 4d. There is a B_ta of £100 also granted by the County Council for the Woodthorpe-Patea-road available. Several contracts for work have been let and are progressing, and the roads are in fair order. The meeting then proceeded to a new Board, when Messrs N. E. Beamish, " * A. Shield, S. M. Milne, G. S. Scale, F. S. Waterhouse, M. E. Groome, and J. Bennett were chosen wardens, and Messrs Wm. Hughs and Wm. Elborne auditors for the ensuing year. The meeting accorded a vote of thanks to Mr Beamish, chairman, and the wardens of the retiring hoard, and to Messrs Elborne and Hughs, auditors, for their services during the past year. The newly-elected wardens then met and appointed Mr IT. E. Beamish chairman of the board.
