AUCKLAND.
July 26. Ross won the international sculling match at Ottawa, Gander and Hosmer following. Tricketr, who seemed comrletely rowed out, was sixth. Ross' time was twenty-seven minutes. Mrs Luhrs, the wife of a respectable German settler at Hamilton, left her house at five o'clock yesterday morning, and has not returned. It is supposed she has drowned herself. She had shown symptoms of insanity lately. The New Zealand Insurance Company lost £1136 and the South British and National £1000 each by the wreck of the ship Franconia from New York to San Francisco. The South British and National offices lose by the fire which destroyed the mining town of Tombstone. Tawhaio, the Maori King, received an ovation at Hamilton, Waikato, to-day. Addresses were presented to him, and Major Mair congratulated him on his visit. The school children sang.
