NEW YORK.
July 25. The medical attendants of the President having decided that it would be necessary to perform an operation to relieve him from the effects of the bullet wound in his loins an incision was made this morning in his back to facilitate the discharge of pus with complete success. It is believed that this treatment will materially aid Mr Garfield's recovery.
