July 23. A. very severe storm has passed over the Shetland Islands. Eleven fishing vessels have been totally wrecked, and seventy fishermen have been drowned. Telegrams are to hand from Cuba announcing that two employes of the bank at Matanzas have embezzled 200,000 dollars, and have succeeded in effecting their escape with the money. July 24. Six infernal machines concealed in barrels of cement, which formed part of cargo of the ship Malta, recently arrived at Liverpool from America, were discovered to-day. On examination they were found to contain charges of dynamite. The police are instituting inquiries, but have not up to the present time been able to trace the owners.
