[by telegkaph.]

(fhom our own corbesfondent). Wellington, July 26. Mr Murray's bill to regulate the duration of Parliaments to come into force after the dissolution of the present Parliament, which he this day asks leave to introduce, provides the term of future Parliaments to bo four years instead of three. The Savings Banks returns for the quarter ending 30th June last, show a very perceptible improvement upon those for the corresponding quarter of 1880. The accounts opened were 8944, and the accounts closed 3217 ; the number of deposits were 35,967, and the number of withdrawals 14,653. The amount of deposits is £298,624, and the amount of withdrawals 222,302 ; the excess of deposits over withdrawals is thus £76,322.
