No fresh cases of small-pox bave occurred in this city since the 15th instant, and all patients in quarantine are progressing favorably towards recovery. The authorities, however, have in no wise relaxed their vigilence, and are making every effort to prevent the spread of the infection, and to stamp out the disease.
July 20.
The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney has declared a dividend for the past half-year at the rate of 25 per cent per annum ; £10,000 is added to the reserve fund, and £10,887 is carried to the next account, Mr P. B. Walker, Assistant Superintendent of Telegraphs, has made a donation of £500 for the foundation of bursaries to assist poor students at the University, one-half of the amount to be reserved for female students.
