The first c f a series of concerts which, at the request of a number of friends, Miss Percy intends holding' during the winter months, ca_»e off in the Hastings schoolroom on Thursday evening last, and, despite the wet, was well attended and very successful. The concert opened with a pianoforte duet, " The National Lancers," by the Misses Percy, followed by the glee " Blow Blow, thou Winter Winds," by Messes Kelly and Percy, Mr Reynolds and Mr Williams, Miss Kelly then following with a very pleasing song, for which she was loudly applauded. A solo on the pianoforte by Miss E. Wood came next, and was really a treat, this young lady showing great talent. Mr Edwards now rendered " The Good-bye at the Door" in his capital style, for which he was encored. " The Bellringer,' by VTr Williams, then followed, and was well received. The next on the programme, " What are the wild waves saying," a duet by Misses Kelly and Percy, was really delightful. " Madeline," by Mr Edwards, was the next, and as might be expected demanded an encore. A trio by Miss Percy, Mr Reynolds, and Mr Williams, brought the first part of the programme to a close. After an interval of ten minutes the Misses Kelly opened with a pianoforte duet "Silver Trumpets," which was well received. A glee " Chough and Crow," by Misses Kelly and Percy, Mr Reynolds and Williams, was as usual well appreciated. A song by Miss Porcy, " Do they think of mo at home," was loudly applauded an encore being demanded. Hong " Maid of Athens," by Mr Edwards, who fairly carried the audience with him, a rapturous encore being demanded, which was again greatly applauded. A pianoforte duet by Misa Percy and a pupil (Misa

Luckie) was the next, and was nicely played. A. song bj Mips Percy, " The memories of tbe past," was well received by the audience. This lady is evidently a favourite with concert g-oers, as her songs are all well appreciated. A duet, " Ring out wild bells," by Mioses Kelly and Percy followed. A glee from " Oberon in Fairy Land" brought a most successful concert to a close. Mr Gilpin and others who had promised to he present failed to keep their promise, I have no doubt that the next time they appear before a Hastings audience they wiil hear of it.
