The Union Company's s.s. Arawata, Captnin Sinclair, from Melbourne ria Southern ports, arrived in the bay at 5.30 p.m. on Sunday, and left again for Northern ports at an early hour this morning. She brought over 70 tons of cargo and four horses for this port, which was transhipped to the lighters Admiral and Three Brothers. The following is the report of her passage, for which we thank Mr D. Dalgbish, her purser:—Left Melbourne on the 6th July at 10 a.m., and arrived ab Hobart on the Bth at 2 a.m.; left again same day at 4.30 p.m., and arrived at the Bluff on the 12th at 8 a.m. ; left at 4 p.m., and arrived at Port Chalmers on the 13th at 2 a.m. ; left on tbe 14th at 2 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton on tbe 15th at *7 a.m. ; left same day at 5 p.m., and arrived at Wellington on the 16th at 10.30 a.m,; left again at 6 p.m., arriving as above. From Melbourne to Bluff had light westerly winds and fine weather, and strong variable winds on the coast. The Union S.S. Company's s.s. Penguin, 800 tons, James Malcolm commander, anchored in the Napier roadstead at 6.40 a.m., on the 18th. She left Auckland at 10.30 a.m. on the 15th in the face of a heavy easterly gale, and after steaming against it for six hours had tn run and take shelter under the lee of the Great Barrier. She remained there for 14 hours, and the weather having moderated a little she hove up anchor and proceeded, the gale still blowing very hard, accompanied with a heavy sea. She arrived at Gisborne at noon on tbe 17th ; discharged cargo, and left at 5.30 p.m., and arrived as above. She brought 30 tons of cargo for this port, which was being discharged into the lighter Why Not as our report left the Spit. It was expected she would sail between two and three o'clock in the afternoon, taking 53 casks of tallow and other cargo. The s.s. Kiwi, Capfc. James Campbell, steams for Wellington at 5.30 to-night, and will take a quantity of tallow, maize, hides, and other cargo.

The steamer Result, Capt. Baxter, returned from Wairoa shortly after two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, bringing several passengers, a horse, and some cargo. She is expected to leave again for tne aame place to-morrow night.

The s.s. Maori, Capt. Anderson, leaves for Wairoa and Mohaka at 12 o'clock to-night. As tbe steam launch Boojum was about to leave the wharf at 11 o'clock this morning with the outward passengers for the s.s. Penguin, some part of the boiler pumps broke, and sbe was compelled to blow down the boiler. The passengers, after a short delay, were taken out in the two pilot boats, and the s.s. Kiwi's surf boat.
