June 28. In the House of Commons to-day the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone announced that, on account of the slow progress that had hitherto been made with the Irish Land Bill, and the opposition that had been offered to the passage of the serious clauses in committee, the Governmert would be compelled to ask the House for further facilities for the despatch of business. He therefore moved that the bill be accorded absolute precedence upon the order paper. The motion, after some debate, was adopted. The Premier sub-

sequently stated that the Government hoped that the business of the session would be (sufficiently advanced by the commencement of August to allow the prorogation (o take place. At the wool sale to-day 7100 bales were offered, making a total of 325,000 catalogued since the commencement of the series. The tone of the sales continues very firm.
