WOODVILLE.
(fhom oub own correspondent)
June 27, 1881. The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Woodville Lodge, 1.0.0.F,, was held in the lodge-room on Saturday evening, and although the weather was wet and cold there was a fair attendance. The following officers were elected to fill the respective chairs during the ensuing term :—G.M., Bro. Wilson ; N.G., Bro. Moore; V.G., Bro. Bevan; Secretary, Bro. Motley; Treasurer, Bro. Diaper (re-elected); Warden, Bro. Mills; R.S. to N.G., Bro. Peebles; L.B. to KG., Bro. Gainge ; R.S. to V.G., Bro. Diaper; L.S. to V.G., Bro. Perry. There are three candidates on the proposition book to be made next lodge night, which will make the number of members good on the booka about 20. jfhis Lodge is gradually gaining strength, and 1 predict for the Loyal Woodville a prosperous year. I understand the members intend celebrating their anniversary by a dinner on Saturday next, for which Bro. Murphy has promised to make preparation.
We are still " shaky " after Sunday morning's shock, and I do not know when we are going to settle down again. Little damage has been done at Danevirk or Tahoraite, although Woodville and Ekatahuna have suffered so much. I believe some of the fair sex refuse to retire to rest waiting for a second edition, but 1 earnestly nope they will be disappointed. Bricks and bricklayers are in active demand. Surely 'tis an ill wind blows nobody any good.
