NAPIER HARBOR BOARD.

TUESDAY, JUNE 21

The above Board met at 2.30 p.m. Present: Messrs Smith, Kinross, Williams, M. R. Miller, Lyndon, Tanner, and Gleadow.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following correspondence w.is read:—

The Harbor Master's report, stating that vessels drawing twelve feet of water could be brought inside. From the same, enclosing requisition from the signal master for flags, &c, needed at the signal station.—The Secretary was authorised to procure the articles required. From thelnspector of Works, reporting that the new light had been fixed on the eastern pier, and that the contractors for the punts had signed the contract and bad commenced work, By Gazette notice the light is to be exhibited on July 18.

From the same, reporting as requested as to the places where he proposed to deposit the stuff dredged, and bringing under notice the condition of the wharves in the Irou Pot.

From the Marine Department, calling attention to the fact that copies of the annual abstracts of receipts and expenditure of the Board and of its assets and liabilities had not been sent to the Minister having charge of the Marine Department, as required by the Harbors Act. —It was decided that the Secretary should reply tbat as soon as the question of tbe valuation of the Board's reserves was settled the required abstract of accounts would be forwarded.

The Board decided to apply to tbe Government for permission \o reclaim that portion of the Iron Pot into which it was proposed to deposit the material dredged from the inner harbor. The secretary reported the bank balance to the credit of the Board to be £1106 Os sd.

Instructions were issued to the secretary to ascertain the facilities for the storage of free goods by the customs ; and the Inspector of Works was instructed te prepare estimates for the erection of a shed.

Accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned,
