PLOUGHING.

[To tb_ Editor of the Daily Telegbapii.] Sir,—ln Monday's issue of tbe morning paper there appeared a local having reference to ploughing practice at Waipukurau in view of the approaching match at Kaikora. Now it happens that two error* occur therein. In the first place no Mr Smith from Wobum was ploughing on the occasion mentioned. and therefore could not have made "excellent work." Secondly Mr W. Pulford is not the Hawke's Bay County champion, as the Herald states, though his plough was manufactured by Mr A. Jones, of Waipukurau. Again I scarcely think Mr Jones needs this what I call cheap way of advertising. Be courteous but not exclusive. Some people know nothing outside their own circle, and that circle scarcely big enough to permit the swinging round of a cat by the tail. The ploughing match come off at Kaikora yesterday, and was a decided success ; tbe weather was all that rould be desired ; the ploughing an the whole w«~ exceedingly good ; and the dinner <iid credit to the worthy host and hostess. But, .Sir, I found no turn-wrist ploughs competing. This certainly is to be regretted, as if farmers were cognizant of the advantages arising from tbe use o these double-furrow turn-wrists they would undoubtedly give more attention to them. lam confident the time is not far distant when the turn-wrist plough will supersede the ordinary cut ploughs, except in districts where the land is very damp, and requires cut ploughing to allow of the water running off—l am, _c, Cosmopolitan.
