THE HOSPITAL.
[To the Editoe of the Daily Teleqeaph.J Sin,—l observe with stupendous satisfaction that the secretary to the Hospital Committee advertises, inviting tenders for " meat at per pound; eggs at per dozen;. groceries; funerals;" and so forth. This is very good, and evinces a desire to do that which political economists urge as the better half of "the whole summum lonum of chattering and pedlaring existence; but I mies one. item,. According to valuation works coming to £60 odd in. the shape of building additions are to be proceeded with } who is going to undertake these ? Will the committee constitute themselves a " building bee," and, for the nonce, " wire in " at saw and plane and hammer; or will the work be handed over to some pillar of the constitution at the said " pillar's " own price ? Perhaps the grocers aad butchers hitherto supplying the hospital can furnish a solution to what looks like a puzzle.—l am, &c, Tbue Blub Blahney. June 15th, 1881. -
