The House met at 2.30 p.m. PRIVILEGE. Dr. Wallis asked, as a question of privilege, whetber it was competent for Mr Beetham to give notice on behalf of Mr Collins of the address in reply to the Governor's speech, when Mr Collins bad not yet been sworn in ? The Speaker settled the question by calling upon Mr Collins to be sworn. Mr Collins having taken the oath renewed the notice of motion. BILLS. Notice was given of the introduction of the Hospitals and Charitable Aid Bill (Dick), the Licensing Bill (Hall), and the Chinese Immigration Bill (Atkinson). seats in the council foe members of the house. Mr Hall, referring to the point raised by Sir George Grey that no seats had been provided in the Council chamber for members of the House of Representatives at the opening ceremony, explained that the omission was accidental. Sir George Grey thought the matter of sufficient importance for the Government to move for a committee of the whole on the subject. Mr Hall promised to consider the suggestion. The Speaker read a memo, from the Speaker of the Council expres-ing reget at tbe occurrence and stating that steps would be taken to prevent its recurrence. RETURNS. Sir George Grey's motions for all the Patetere correspondence, and a return of all moneys paid to newspapers in the colony were agreed to. The House rose at 3.15.
