MELBOURNE.
Juue 9. In the Legislative Council to-day the Reform Bill as amended by the Assembly came up for dieeussion, and although no decision was come to the debate shewed that the majority of the members are determined to insist on tbe amendments to tbe measure previously passed in the Council. June 10. The Royal Prince 3 will leave tbe P. and O. Company's steamer Cathay at Adelaide, aud make a 3hort stay in that city before coming on to Melbourne. In the Legislative Council last night, after further debate, the various amendments to tbe Reform Bill made by tbe Assembly were rejected without division, and the House then adjourned to Wednesday next.
It is generally expected that, in view of the action of the Council, the Government will abandon the Reform Bill. A caucus of Ministerialists will be held on Tuesday next to take the present position of affairs into consideration and decide upon a course of action.
