LONDON.
June 7. The Australian and New Zealand mails, via San Francisco, which left Auckland on April 26tb, were delivered here to-day. Later intelligence from Ireland reports that further riots h«ve occurred at ShruJe, in County Mayo, between the police and peasantry, but the disturbances are now subsiding, the rioters having been almost entirely dispersed.
News is to hand from Ireland that attempts were made last night on tbe railways to wreck the trains conveying troops to the disaffected districts. The lines were torn up in several places, but owing to the vigilance of the railway officials tbe accidents to tbe trains were averted.
At the wool sale to-day 7,800 bales w<?re offered. A firm and active demand
was experienced. The present series of auctions closes on the Ist July. June 8. The tenders for the New South Wales loan of £2,050,000, to bear interest at the rate of four per cent., were opened to-day. The total amount offered was found to be £4,000,000. Tenders at £10 3s 8d and upwards will receive allotment in full. The homeward Australian mails, via Suez and Brindisi, which left Melbourne on April 25th were delivered here today.
