Mr Gipp, hydraulic engineer, has commenced an action for libel against Mr John M'Elhone, the member in the Legislative Assembly for tho Upper Hunter district. The damages are laid at £5000. May 28. In the action for libel brought by Mr Gipps, hydraulic engineer, against Mr M'Elhone, M.L.A., the latter pleaded the privilege of Parliament, the alleged libel having been written in the pocketbook of Mr Withers, M.L.A., within the precincts of the Assembly. The plaintiff has been non-suited.

An enthusiastic meeting was held at the Masonic Hall last evening, at which it was resolved to raise the whole of the amount of the Bulletin's costs in the recent libel action. A large amount has already been subscribed by all classes of the community.
