WANGANUI STEEPLECHASE MEETING.
[by tele&eaph]. Wakgantti, May 24. The steeplechase meeting was a great success in point of racing, but the attendance ■was hardly as good as usual as the weather was very gloomy, drizzling rain falling just , before the first race. The course was in splendid order, and the recent improvements were greatly admired. Mr Douglas, from Napier, was wonderfully fortunate, pulling off a treble by Venture wining the Handicap and the Grand Stand Bace, and Uira pulling off the Maiden Eace. The totaliaator was fairly patronised. Lono Hand's running was a disappointment, the old grey refusing his jumps in a most provoking manner. HANDICAP STEEPLECHASE. Of 250 soys ; 3 miles.
