CLIVE SQUARE SPORTS.
The sports yesterday drew a large crowd, and considering the long programme to be gone through the committee may be congratulated on the way in which all the events were conducted. Messrs Cross and Williams as treasurer and secretary worked energetically to make the affair a success, and they succeeded. The handicapping also gave general satisfaction. The Rifle Band was in attendance and discoursed sweet music during the best part of the day ; the Artillery Band also gave their assistance during a portion of the afternoon. Owing to pressure on our space we cannot give such an extended report of the different events as we could wish. The following are the winners in the events: — MAIDEN EACE.
