May 23. The Premier arrived from Wellington on Saturday. Mr J. T. Fisher, M.H.R., addresses, his constituents in the Heathcote district on Thursday. Two four-roomed cottages at Avonside were burnt down yesterday. The insurances were £150 in the Transatlantic office and £150 in the National office. The EugliHh mail from Cbristcburcb on Saturday was unusually heavy. It comprised 8969 letters and 42 bags of books and newspapers, estimated to contain over 2000.
