WELLINGTON.

May 13. The Cattle Board yesterday refused an application for the release of two pigs, the property of Mr Canning of Hawke's Bay, which arrived per ship Hurunui, on January 14th last, and which have remained in quarantine ever since on account of no certificate from the shippers declaring that they were free from disease at the time of shipment being produced by the consignee. The total ordinary revenue of the colony for the year ending 3lst March waa £3,123,960, exclusive of £94,200 deficiency bills. The total ordinary expenditure for the same period was £3,168,183. The land fund revenue was £299,166. The year's expenditure from the same source waa £266,793. The two accounts, after providing for deficiency bills, show a surplus of upwards of £26,000. On the same date the total expesditure on loan account for the year amounted to £1,960,974, leaving a balance in hand, subject to liabilities, of

£1,360,373, exclusive of the guaranteed half million.
