ROMEO AND JULIET.

Herr Bandmann and his company played to a good house last night. The character of Romeo is so entirely different from that hitherto played by Herr Bandmann during his stay here that his performance was looked forward to with some interest. The success achieved, however, only further displays the great versatility of this excellent actor. He sustained the softer love passages with the same degree of thorough appreciation that has marked his previous impersonations. Miss Beaudet as Juliet attained a thorough triumph. The character suits her admirably. In the balcony scene her naivete and warmth took the fancy of the audience. Again in the interview with the old nurse, when seeking news of Romeo, she was remarkably successful. To Mr Cathcart's Mercutio we cannot refer in too highterms, from beginning to end it was a most masterly performance of a difficult part. From the description of Queen Mab and her antice till hisjdeath scene in the third act he tborougbly held the sympathy of the audience. Miss Crawford made a remarkably good nurse, and Mr Hall as the Friar showed himself a thoroughly careful actor. To-night the performance will be under the patronage of the Mayor and Borough Council, and a special bill has been prepared. Of Mr Bandmann'a rendering of the twin brothers in ." The Corsican Brothers " we read nothing bnt praise, and his David Garrick is sure to be a finished impersonation.
