HAWERA.

A young man named J. Ferry, a brother of the landlord of the Occidental Hotel, Wanganui, got smothered last night. It appears be camped near an embankment, a portion of which fell and smothered the deceased, who was lying in bis tent at the time. An inquest will be held. Ferry was greatly respected, and much sorrow is expressed at bis sad fate throughout the district.
