HAWERA.

May 7.

It is reported that a man was shot on the Waimate Plains to-day, and on making enquiries it was learnt that it took place on tbe Mountain road. It appears that two men were riding on a bullock dray, and perceiving a pig gave chase. In the excitement one shot the other through the thigh. Dr Richardson attended and dressed the wounds, which are seriou?, owing to tbe slues used. It is feared that the limb will have to be amputated.
