Brighouse v. Wheeler.—Claim of £14 18s 6d, Judgment for plaintiff with costs, &c.

Gillanders v. Russell.—Claim of £6 ss, compensation for alleged wrongful dismissal in lieu of one month's notice. Mr Lee for plaintiff, and Mr Guy for the defendant. The defence set up was as follows: —(1) That the plaintiff had been guilty of misconduct in ill-treating a horse, the property of Mr Russell ; (2) that he had spoken impudently to Mr Gaisford, manager for Mr Russell; and (3) that he had accepted payment of wages in full up to the time of terminating his engagement with defendant. His Worship, after hearing evidence on both sides, considered the main points of the defence were established, and gave judgment for de/endant with costs and counsel's fee, and 10s 6d witness's expenses.

Evans v. Merritt.—Olaim of £27 ss. Adjourned to next Court day. Evans v. Partington.—Claim £9 39 6d, for service of mare and paddocking. Defendant denied liability, except so far as charge for paddockiDg was concerned. His Worship, after hearing both parties, said there had been a great deal of conflicting evidence given, but he was inclined to believe that the plaintiff had the best of it. He would enter up judg-

ment for plaintiff with costs, and counsel's fee £1 Is.

Brighouse v. Mowatt.—This was an action to recover 10s charged to plaintiff as impounding damages by the defendant. The evidence of plaintiff and his witnesses, and that of defendant and his witnesses, was flatly contradictory, rendering the case a most difficult one to decide. Judgment was finally given for plaintiff for 9s, the same to carry costs and counsel's fee of 10s 6d.

The business terminated shortly after 1 p.m.
