The census returns for Wellington city give 20,535 inhabitants. At the previous census the number was 19,037. The number of houses isx3Bl7'; empty houses, 421. At the previous census there were 175 empty houses. The Chinamen in the city number 62. The number of inhabitants in the Wellington electoral country district is 4227.
