Two small fires occurred yesterday,
The Hinemoa leaves Lyttelton on Friday with one hundred Maori prisoners from here, and one hundred from Dunedin.
The manufacture of pulp for paper making and the manufacture of dextrine has been commenced in the vicinity of Christchurch.
The Board of Education will offer ten two-year scholarships of £40 each per year for competition next June. A woman named Day, 53 years old, committed suicide yesterday by taking strychnine. She was intemperate and fond of quarrelling with her husband, who was in the house engaged in cooking when she swallowed the poison.
