The death of the Earl of Beaconsfield is deeply deplored by all political parties, and has created a profound eensation throughout Europe. It is officially announced to-day that Her Majesty the Queen expressed great grief at the loss of her most valued and devoted friend and counsellor, the late Earl.

A sculling race took place to-day at Southampton between Edward Trickett and an oarsman named Kirby. The contest resulted in an easy victory for Trickett.
