The following are the probable starters for the Sydney Cup, to be run for to morrow:—Wellington, Progress, Woodlands, Black Swan, Falmouth, The Pontiff, Strathearn, Richmond, Braidwood, , The Barber, Canary, Orient, Wandering Jew, Major, Cynic, Templar, and Gunild. H. M. schooners Alacrity, Beagle, and Conflict, have left this port under sealed orders. It is believed they are proceeding to the Islands. April 20. The report of the Australian Mutual Provident Society for the past year has been issued. It shows that 9623 proposals for life assurance were Submitted during the year, 6551 being accepted, assuring £2,181,258. The news premiums amounted to £74,666. Ulaims have arisen on 2PI policies amounting to £121,413. The accumulated funds of the society now amount to £3,379,510, being an increase of £445,713 compared with the previous year.
