A fire occurred in Trevlevan's grain store in the Market Place last night. Being detected early it was soon extinguished. The damage, principally by water, is estimated at £100, which is covered by insurance in the Union and South British offices.
Mr E. C. J. Stevens, the member for Christchurcb, will address his constituents on Thursday. The Juvenile Pinafore Company opened to a crowded houee at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night. The performance was a great success. At a largely attended meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club on Saturday, it was decided to refuse to endorse the disqualification of Mata and Ray by the Victorian Racing Club.
