The steamer Napier returned to the heads with the Kaikora excursionists on Tuesday, but, owing to the eea running on the bar, was unable to get in. She is still outside. A boat containing the mate and two of the crew attempted to make shore, but the boat capsized, and the men had a narrow escape of being drowned.
