QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY.
TTo the]Editoe of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir, —Aa there is no proposition before the public as to tbe manner in which the above day shall be celebrated, I would suggest that some entertainment be arranged to be held in Napier, as I fail to see why every kind of outdoor sporta should be held in the country. Several years ago a committee of gentlemen went round and collected a good subscription from the tradesmen in town, and they got up one of tbe best programmes of sports ever issued in the province. The sports were held on Clive Square, and were free to the public, competitors only paying an entrance fee for the various events. I learn that tbe Artillery Volunteers intend holding their firing in town on the Queen's Birthday, and I have no doubt tbat their band would play a selection of music on the occasion if the sports were got up.—l am, &c,
