GRAHAMSTOWN.
April 7
By the last English mail the prospectus was received of a mining company named the Haven being floated in the London market, purporting to work ground on the Thames goldfield. No such area is available, for the ground in the locality is all taken up under license. The editor of the Star has sent full information to the Minister of Mines, and pointing out the desirability of the Government contradicting the statements in England. In the prospectus the richest claims on the goldfield are referred to as lying adjacent to the proposed scene ot operations, although some of the said claims are miles distant from each other.
The Te Aroha battery is expected to be completed on Saturday, and there is much anxiety as to the finds from the claims. The result will make or mar the goldfield.
