April 7

The Dunedin School Committee has declined to countenance the attendance of school children at the "Pinafore" performance, for which free admission was offered to certificated teachers.

Ihe Homeward Bound Company at Macetown has crushed 235 ounces of gold from 334 tons of stone. Major Smith, the Victorian Minister of Education, accompanied by the members of the Education Board, visited the City High and Training schools, and expressed his astonishment at the high average attendance considering the numbers on the roll. He particularly admired the conduct of the boys of the High School. In the afternoon he inspected the harbor works.
