In the Assembly the Minister of Works fully stated the railway policy af the Government. The proposed lines of railway include the following :—Homebush to Waratah, Sydney to Wollongong, Kiama (Goulbourn) to Coorna, Albury to Murray, Oranga to Forbes, Narrandera to Jerilderie, Cootamundra to Gundagai, and Murumburrah to Blayey. The debate was adjourned till Tuesday. Mr Fitzpatrick, the leader of the Opposition, baa resigned, and it is expected that Mr Foreter will take the position. A public breakfast was given in the Town Hall on Tuesday to welcome Mr Forster. Between sixty and seventy persons were present and the proceedings were enthusiastic. Mr Forster, jn his speech, said he would take a seat in the Assembly as an independent man, and cive a fair support to the Government. Wilcannia.
In spite of the repeated warnings large numbers are leaving for the diggings. The total quantity of gold brought in during the last three days is 63 ounces. The Commercial and Joint Stock Banks are the purchasers. The gold is nuggety and shotty.
