AUCKLAND.
March 21. Samuel Brown, a well-known citizen of many years standing has been committed for trial on three charges of burglary. The defence set up when the cases were brought forward some time ago was insanity, and Brown has since been in the asylum. James Patten, while playing cricket at Onehunga, was fielding the ball, when another cricketer ran into him, knocking him down and breaking five ribs.
