At the wool sale to-day 10,900 bales were offered, making a total of 222,000 catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was firm, and there was an active demand. .Eighteen thousand bales have been withdrawn since the commencement ef the sales.

A somewhat serious disturbance occurred to-day at Aldershot. A drunken Irish soldier was being arrested by the police, when a number of civilian sympathisers endeavoured to prevent his being taken into custody. A riot ensued, which lasted for some time, but it was finally quelled by fresh bodies of police arriving on the scene and overpowering the rioters, a number of whom were arrested.
