At the wool sales to-day 8,800 bales were catalogued. The tone of the sale was firm, and there was an active demand for the sorts offered.

In the House of Commons to-day a motion was introduced by the Government asking that the Supply Bill should be declared " urgent. ,, A lengthy debate ensued in the course of which great opposition was shewn on both sides of the House to the proposal, and the motion was finally negatived by a considerable majority. It is officially announced that the English Court will go into mourning for a month for the late Czar of Russia.
