The Rifle Association's annual prize 6ring wes commenced yesterday afternoon. At 3 o'clock Mrs Dodson opened tbe meeting by firing the first shot, which proved a miss. There were 130 competitors for the first match. The scores at the first range were as follows : —First match,3oo yards; for all members,? shots : Downie, 27; Hughes, Ross, Crosman, Owen, each 26 ; Paul,Tait, Clouston, " Purness, Parelow, Laird, M'Kenzie. Best, Ellis, Nutsford, Dingle, Pickets, Somerville. Trayes, Coleman, Tborburn, Thomas, each 25; Randall, Dixon, A. Soper, Wilkson, M'Donald, Weir, MTntosh, Lieut. Ballinger, Hoskin Sharland, Loveridge, Sutton, H., each 24 ; remainder 23 or under.
