Tho Union Steamship Company's s.s. Albion, Captain P. M. Garrard, arrived here from Melbourne via Southern ports on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. We are indebted to the purser, Mr W. B. Jones, for the following report of her passage, as also forlatest files :—Left Sandridge Bailway Pier on the Bth inst. at 2.30 p.m., cleared Port Philip Heads afc 5 p.m., and passed Swan Island on the 9th at 3 p.m. ,• experienced light to fresh. TST.E. winds with smooth sea during the whole run across, accompanied by a dense fog with frequent showers of rain from the 11th inst. ? arrived at the iJnlf? on tne 13tn at 4 P- m -> thp next clay at 9 p-m- for Port Chalmers ■where she arrived on the 15th at 6 a.m.; left again on the 16th at 4p. 2? -; and called at Lyttelton on the 17th and Wellington on the leth, leaving the latter port a^ 6 p.m., and arriving here as above, having experienced fine v/eather with smooth sea during tho passage up the coast. The cargo, some 90 tons was lightered ashore by the ketch. Admiral, the s.s. Sir Donald tendering for 150 rams. She got away for Northern porte at about midnight taking 4000 feet of timber and 25 rams for Poverty Bay. The steamer Kosina, Captain Scott, took her departure for Poverty Bay at a late hour on Saturday evening, taking a cargo of timber and limestone, and also five tanks.

The s.s. Maori, Captain Anderson, returned from Wairoa at 3 p.m. on Saturday, bringing a cargo of -wool and maize for Messrs Kinross and Co. She -will not leave again before Wednesday morning. The s.s. Fairy steamed for Te Apiti at 2 o'clock on Sunday, returning by 6 o'clock the same evening, having landed her cargo, some 400 sacks of grass seed. The s.s. Kiwi left for Wellington via the coast at 6 o'clock on Saturday evening.

The s.s. Result, Captain Baxter, leaves for Wairoa at 2 o'clock to-morrow morning;

The s.s, Sir Donald is to leave for Blackhead to-night. The barque Anazi, Captain Hill, was shifted in from the ballast ground on Saturday and moored at the outer moorings. The brignntine Linda Weber, Capt. J. Bell, arrived here this morning from Whangarei, which place she left on Tuesday last. Reports having experienced fine weather throughout. She brings a cargo of 28,000 feet of baulk and 41,000 feet of sawn timber consigned to Mr Bobert Holt. A ketch arrived in the bay at one o'clock to-day, which will probably prove to be the Venus, nine days out, from Mercury Bay, with a cargo of timber for Mr H. R. Gunn. The topsail schooner Gleaner, Captain Munn, arrived in the Bay this morning, and was brought inside shortly afterwards and moored at the breastwork. She reports having left Greymou'h last Sunday week with a cargo of 150 tons of coal. Experienced fine weather throughout. A barque arrived at the anehoi-age just as our report left the Spit, which will probably prove to be the Mercia, Captain B. W. Hick, 751 tons register, from London direct, consigned to the New Zealand Shipping Company.
