TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Stbawgek.—You failed to furnish us with your name and address. This omission was, however, of little importance, from the fact that your communication, being perfectly unintelligible, space could only bo found for it in the waste paper basket. Tbt/th (Farndon).—A high-class journal aims at being a faithful record of current events, and only a badly conducted fourth-rate paper would neglect to correct an error or omission in its columns. A morning print, published in Napier, incorrectly reported the names of the persons elected to the Board referred to by you, but though it cannot but be perfectly well aware of its blunder it prefers to let it pass than acknowledge a fault. '1 here is no necessity to publish your letter, as the circulation of the Herald is so insignificant that any mistake it may commit is of no public importance whatever. J, L. Stubby (Waipukurau).—We know of no manufactory of the kind in Hawke's Bay. Mr Armstrong, of Wellington, is the manufacturer to whom we referred some few weeks ago.
