In the House of Commons this afternoon Mr Gladstone gave notice that he would propose that a majority of threefourths of the House on a motion of "urgency" should suffice to give the Speaker supreme control over the Chamber, and give him immediate power to suppress disorder. Mr Gladstone's proposal is made in view of the disgraceful scenes which occurred last night in the House during the debite on the Irish Coercion Bill.
