Telegraph.] Sib, —The enclosed correspondence, which I Bumbit to you for publication, refers to a matter which has been several times alluded to in your reports of the proceedings of the Municipal Council. At this stage I need only add that I am prepared to prove that the Municipal Council is not in possession of any evidence to justify its demand upon Mr Ainner, and that that body has been misled into doiog so by erroneous or insufficient evidence furnished by tbe former Municipal Engineer.—l am, &c, —-^ Henby Ellison. Amner, Sir, —We have received a letter from the Town Clerk, informing us that a notice has been served upon you, requiring you to remove your buildings fronting Chaucer road. Your buildings having been erected in accordance wkh a survey made by us six years ago, and lately verified, we beg to inform you that we are prepared to take upon ourselves the onus of supporting you in possession of the ground, and should legal proceedings result adversely to you we will indemnify you for any loss which you may sustain, We are, Your obedient servants, "*% W.
