January 29.

Yesterday the Governor, Mischief, Rand wick, Virginia Water, Clarence, Badsworth, The Agent, and LuDa, left for Wellington by the Te Anau.

Yesterday Mr J. L. Coster, for many years manager of the Bank of New Zealand, being about to retire, was presented by the bank officials with an address and a purse ot sovereigns to purchase a souvenir of his brother officers.

The Acclimatisation Society during past season have distributed 33.425 trout. The Australian cricketers arrived by express tram from Timaru last night. They were enthusiastically received by over one thousand persons, including the President of the Cricket Association and the members of the Canterbury fifteen.
